TAKEOFF
Client: Kristalia
Year: 2019
Takeoff is a wall mirror with a small integrated tray designed specifically for a lobby to facilitate the small rituals that each of us performs without noticing when we leave the house in the morning and return in the evening: where we place our keys and our mobile phone, or look at our own reflection. The design won the Cristalplant Design Contest 2019 and is inspired by an aeroplane window, hence its name. It has a smooth, slightly concave profile, and a Cristalplant base with a fluid, rounded shape, wich gives it a touch of overall lightness. The first object you notice when you get back home is, above all, the last one you look at when you leave, ready to start the day.

jüngerkühn is a design studio creating products, digital manufacturing processes and installations.
In their digital craft based practice they challenge the boundaries of materials and manufacturing processes and experiment with new production methods and models. They use digital technologies like robotics to enable new material-driven production that draws on the richness of crafted objects. In their practice digital tools are especially interesting for the design and manufacturing of products as they allow for both larger quantities and high flexibility at the same time.
